Acute Rehabilitation Center

Acute Rehabilitation Center at Jefferson Regional
Jefferson Regional Medical Center opened its 14-bed Acute Rehabilitation Center in October 2007. The hospital developed the unit and provides patient care in partnership with Rehab Care Inc. The ARU is on the hospital’s fifth floor and is a “Distinct Part” unit, meaning that patients are discharged from the hospital and admitted to the rehab unit.

The Acute Rehabilitation Center focuses primarily on physical rehabilitation for stroke victims, brain and spinal cord injuries, hip fractures, amputations, neurological diseases, and many other diagnoses.

Patients will receive intense physical and occupational therapy. The center anticipates that about 80 percent of patients treated in the Acute Rehab Center will return to their homes.

Neurologist James Alonso, MD, is the center’s medical director. The Acute Rehab Center’s Program Director is Brigid Jensen and the Nursing Director is Christi Reed. For additional information call 636-933-1595.
