Whether in the hospital or as an outpatient, a staff of more than 20 therapists helps physicians treat patients with a variety of respiratory illnesses. The Jefferson Regional Respiratory Therapy Department is able to provide testing such as pulmonary function, lung volume, and flow rates in addition to providing treatments and teaching. Treatments may include medication therapy through hand-held nebulizers, meter-dosed inhalers, and chest physiotherapy. Other specialized services include a sleep lab to diagnose sleep apnea and other sleep disorders and bronchoscopies, in which physicians can visually inspect internal lung structures and perform procedures.
